11/7/2019 Vpn For Mac El Capitan
Sharing a VPN connection with another device on macOS Sierra/El Capitan 13 minute read There are multiple reasons why you would want to share a VPN connection from your Mac with another device. Jun 11, 2015 - Just a notice to anyone thinking of running Mac OSX 10.11 El Capitan, beta. VPN appears to have been broken.
Hi Peter, I am a brand new Mac Book Pro (laptop) user, and on my Mac, i have El Capitan (version 10.11.3) And Cisco AnyConnect (version 3.1.03103) and when I and connect I get as far as the banner page telling me that it is being monitored and I accept, but it will not connect, I get the following message: The AnyConnect package on the secure gateway could not be located. You may be experiencing network connectivity issues. Please try connecting again. There is no firewall turned on, and File Vault is turned off as well. Any advise for this new Mac User to get it working??? Thanks Michael and Richard for your responses. I unfortunately do not have access to download any version of AnyConnect, I have an account with Cisco, but I do not have a license, I even tried to purchase but I am not a customer, so I might be out of luck.
I have read some posters talk about ASA, and I am not knowledgeable enough to answer if I am doing ASA. My understanding was that ASA was tied to Firewall, but I do not have a firewall turned on, on my Mac. Some posters have also gone into the root system of their Macs to get it to work, but I am brand new to Apple/Mac that I am not knowledgeable enough to do that with our step by step directions with screen captures (i.e. Hand holding). Lisa To clarify some terminology - an ASA is a firewall and it does not run on your MAC but is the device that you connect to when you run AnyConnect. I am not sure how that copy of AnyConnect was loaded on your MAC but most of the time people get AnyConnect on their PC (applies to Windows as well as Apple) when they connect to the ASA and attempt VPN. The good news may be that it may not be necessary for you to work through Cisco to get the new version of AnyConnect.
The organization to which you want to VPN with AnyConnect and who own the ASA to which you attempt to connect can get the version of AnyConnect. You should contact them, explain your problem (and I suspect that you may not be the only user of theirs who has this problem), and request that they get a newer copy of AnyConnect and put it on their ASA. When they do this then your MAC should be able to download the new version from the ASA, install the new version, and you should then be good to go.
Download the configuration file “” to use VPN on a MAC computer. After downloading, go to the downloads source file on your MAC and double click the VPN configuration file.
Click ‘Next’ twice and fill in your s/e/u-number under ‘Username’ and your RU password under ‘Password’. Now enter the username and password of your Apple device in the window below. The VPN profile is now installed. Click the VPN icon at the top of the toolbar to check whether you have successfully established a connection. You have successfully established a connection if the 'Disconnect VPN connection (IPSec)' icon is shown, via which you can also end the connection.
